Hope you enjoy KOTOR! A friend had me play it a long time ago and I had so much fun I spent quite awhile hunting down my own copy of it! I still hope to find KOTOR 2 on disc even after picking it up on digital but I somehow doubt I'll find that one for a decent copy/price. If servers stop trying to shut down for a bit I could catch up on things and play through them again finally though! :D
I've played KOTOR over half a dozen times on the original XBox, Windows PC, and Apple PC. Drew Karpashyn, of Mass Effect fame was the lead writer--he's one of my favorites. It was based on a Dark Horse comic series, Tales of the Jedi, that ran in the mid-1990s.
So, although it was canon, because its time frame occurred long before the movies, it did not conflict with the media franchise. This meant the game had much more artistic freedom because it didn't come under any constraints imposed by the movies.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, in contrast, ended up being a wild goose chase. The plot went nowhere because it would have interfered with the movie story line.
