You are right about the updates thou I don't think a single game I have on disc didn't require an update at least once. But you could work around it and spread the updates out once you get that one done you'd be good. Just feel like you're missing out on a lot.
Guessing this was aimed for me? The limit is just too tiny and there are others in the household that use the internet as well. The computer updates alone take up a big chunk of the bandwidth leaving not a lot free later in the month. This service isn't just a 'slow down if you go over', it's full on shut off. Can't risk it. :( It prevents streaming content online and doing a lot of other things. Just trying to keep the computers up to date uses far too much of our limit as it is like I said. Upgrading a game system is just not possible on theis internet that's available to me here. I'm in the country so it likely won't ever change. :( Not spending several hundred dollars on a system I can't use. I've actually heard of far too many of the games having Day 1 patches even on disc so it's really not an option. When you have to watch your bandwidth carefully like this you pick up on all these little details that others tend to skip over because they don't have to worry them :(
If unlimited broadband is not available in your area, I doubt you get good cellphone coverage. BUT on the off chance you do, one alternative is to get a cellphone plan with unlimited data and set up your phone as a mobile hot spot and use that to connect your devices to. That's what I did when our home broadband went down for about a week. It works quite well provided you have a semi decent phone signal. Either way, happy gaming friend.
Haha nope, 0 cell signal where I live unless we drive almost 20 miles to town. There's a few spots along the highway you can get 1-2 bars but it doesn't hold enough for more than a text sometimes. Really no TV either. 1 mostly stable channel with nothign remotely interesting to watch. This is not a good area for technology. Sad too because I'm in the US and you'd think there'd be better tech available but nope -_- Each time a grant for upgrading internet access to states goes out they go right up and over the top of the county I'm in and choose to upgrade people's speed that already have better access than get it to people that actually need it -_- Even our land lines suck honestly LoL
Thanks for the idea though but yeah, kinda trapped here -_- Dialup is my backup if the net goes down, or was but that got to the point a person can't load a single page or even get a single teeny tiny text based email downloaded so I don't even bother anymore.
I looked at the sale list again and saw 3 PC games. One should run on here but 4GB and it's early in the month so kinda leaning towards avoiding it because the giant Windows updates haven't even ran yet and last few months we've barely had 5GB at the end of the month free to play with. Other 2 are 1GB each so much better size but slightly in question because they want a GPU and I only have an integrated one. I do have the base RAM to make up for it but it'll be close still so kinda undecided. This sale is 2 weeks right? Updates will have run next week so I'll have a better idea at that point if I want to try :D
