Our TrueAchievements Game of the Year 2023 vote brings together 32 of the best Xbox games of the past year for a single elimination tournament where the outcome is up to you.
Ubisoft's latest Assassin's Creed entry faces off against first-person puzzle game The Talos Principle 2 today. Assassin's Creed Mirage already assassinated Trepang2 in round 5 of this GOTY vote, while The Talos Principle 2 defeated Wild Hearts in round 6.
Assassin's Creed Mirage did well for itself after its October release, and was the publisher's "biggest new-gen launch" in terms of sales. The Talos Principle 2 came out the following month and doesn't necessarily have the same pre-launch clout as you might get with a recognisable franchise such as Assassin's Creed, but that's no reason to discount it yet — it could have a hidden blade of its own.
AAA games have been put into the top bracket and indie and other smaller titles into a second bracket tier to keep things fair for this tournament, but we'll still have our more traditional GOTY vote towards the end of the month. In the meantime, this is a fun way to get a good discussion kicking off in the comments about this year's best Xbox games.
