Fallen Archbishop Andreus is a difficult boss to overcome. The fight is divided into 2 phases with the second phase adding increased difficulty. If you are planning to use a specter, don’t waste materials on it until after you can reach phase 2 on your own and lower the boss’s health by at least 25%. Otherwise, you will waste a lot of materials. Any fire attacks will add bonus damage against the Archbishop.
Gear Setup
What gear you bring to the fight is entirely up to you and should match the attributes you have leveled up. Here is the setup that was used in making this guide:
- Weapon: Greatsword of Fate Blade +4 & Big Pipe Wrench Handle
- Legion Arm: Flamberge
- Amulets: Life & Carrier’s
- Frame: LADA F150
- Converter: Workshop Union Standard Corrosion Resistance
- Cartridge: Belford Break
- Liner: Workshop Union Certified
Phase 1
During the first phase, you will fight the Fallen Archbishop in his shell which has the following attacks. If you manage to stagger the boss, the
weak point is situated to the right of the 1st head.
- 2 Tongue Lashes: Guard when the Archbishop lashes his tongue.
- 3-Hit Combo: When the right arm swipes, it will be followed by a right slam, and a left swipe, guard then counter after the 3rd strike.
- 2-Hit Combo: If the boss slams his right arm down, it will be followed by a left swipe, guard and counter after the 2nd strike.
- Slide: When the Archbishop sits down, he will slide around, hold guard to mitigate damage.
- Stand & Slam: If you see the Archbishop stand up, run away. He will usually move forward a bit before slamming down causing AoE damage.
If you choose to bring a specter with you, it will survive longer if you can keep agro during this phase. When the specter does take agro, run around to the back of the boss and use your Flamberge to catch the Archbishop on fire (pictured below).
Phase 2
At the start of phase 2, use your grindstone (
) to apply fire (
+
) to increase damage against the Archbishop. Avoid going anywhere near the 2nd head and don’t target lock on the boss unless you’re attacking the 1st head. New attacks to watch for (excluding the 2nd head which should be avoided and ignored):
- Crawl: Occasionally, the boss will crawl toward you which can be blocked or dodged.
- Scream & Slide: When the Archbishop screams, he will slide around the area. Hold guard to mitigate damage or dodge/run out if you see it coming.
- Blue Energy Discharge: If you see the boss absorbing blue energy, immediately run away and to the side of him. The blue energy discharge does massive damage and the process will open the boss up for a few free hits when it finishes.
When you’re down to your last Pulse Cell (health), use it as soon as you drop below 50% health. Using it early will give you more time to recharge the next cell before you really need it.
If you have a
Fire Abrasive and you have enough health to finish off the boss, go ahead and use it for the final burn down. These are hard to come by prior to this fight, so only do so if you think you will defeat the Archbishop.
