Everwild targeting 2024 release after being "restarted from scratch"- report By Sean Carey, 15 Jun 2021 FollowtopicsXbox Game StudiosXbox Series X|SAdventureSean Carey Everwild, Rare's new IP, wasn't at the recent Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase as it has reportedly been "completely rebooted" and is now "optimistically" targeting a 2024 release window. The report comes from VGC, who claim that the departure of Everwild's creative director Simon Woodroffe back in October last year led to a "complete overhaul of the game’s design and direction, as well as significant changes to its senior leadership." According to VGC's sources, who know of Everwild's development, the game has been "restarted from scratch." Before VGC's report, journalist Jeff Grubb also said that he too had heard of Everwild's reboot. VGC also says it's heard that Everwild's development team is now "optimistically" targeting a 2024 release window. Everwild is a brand-new IP that was first announced at X019 two years ago. Not much has been revealed about the game, but Rare has previously said the team is "focused on building an experience that allows for new ways to play in a natural and magical world" and that Everwild will "offer memorable, engaging and meaningful experiences for players everywhere to share."Everwild’s executive producer, Louise O’Connor, confirmed to VGC that Gregg Mayles, Rare's most senior creative employee, has been brought in as creative director for the project. “Gregg Mayles joined us late last year as Creative Director, and the team has never been stronger," O'Connor told VGC. "Since showing the world our Eternals trailer, we have been making progress on all aspects of Everwild."The team continues to work hard to realise our vision and to bring the magic of nature in Everwild to life for players around the world."Are you disappointed with the news?
